The first six months of 2020 have been unpredictable. Let’s see what the upcoming month and months bring. One thing seems to stand out, our country and our world continues to be divided. Looking back, I remember thinking that “the year doesn’t change things”, some of us where expecting a year with less challenges, yet here we are.

• The world yearns unity

• The world yearns peace

• The world yearns love

Yet in the yearn to attain unity, peace, love; we humans find the many reasons to have a war, to be unkind, to segregate.

The recent events our world is facing gives us an opportunity to see the fruit of the human heart

• We all have opinions

• If you don’t agree with my opinion let’s break up

We are segmented (even when the out roar is for inclusion and diversity); below some of the choices;

• Black lives matter

• Blue lives matter

• All lives matter

• The lives of the babies in the womb matter

• White lives are privileged

We forget to remember that each individual will face different challenges.

There are rich humans who are lonely, depressed, but because they are rich, let’s find ways to bring them down (some will say).

There are poor humans who don’t have food, some maybe close to an eviction; that is part of life (some may say).

There are young people lost in hours of media, virtually “connected” yet disconnected from reality; where are their parents (some will say).

And I can continue to segment our population

• To mask or not to mask

• My freedom vs your freedom

• Let the statues be vs. tear the statues down

The culture and world have been telling us to do what makes us happy, and to a certain extend we continue to do what makes us happy … forgetting our neighbor, keeping the focus on me, myself, and I.

We are, my fellow human, repeating history.

We are, my fellow human, been distracted.

The world will distract us

…But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 2 Corinthians 3:16

In our human power with the intention to do good, we will continue do the opposite.

Let’s think of a president living his status to become a servant.

Let’s think of a king leaving his kingdom to be hurt, mocked, killed?

Incomprensible!

Yet there is one who did that, Christ. Either you mock that fact or you surrender to it.

After the surrendering comes the transformation; it doesn’t happen overnight and here is where this new kind of living happens.

• Dying to self

• Thinking of others

• Sharing truth because of love

Loving with the kind of love that seeks for the good of others.

There is this peace that surpasses all understanding.

There is this kind of love that accepts us as we are and transforms.

There is this reconciliation and unity with God!

On my own, when I think of the idea of wearing a mask, I start feeling sick

On my own, when I wear a mask, I think is unnecessary

Yet if a fellow human asks me to wear one, for their sake, I’ll surrender my own (this is truer when it comes to my husband and kids, their attitude convicts me).

“Christ must increase, but I must decrease.” -John 3:30

• I am going to die
• You are going to die
• We are going to die

Death is a fact; of course we need to be careful and responsible. Yet non of us know when the time will come. My desire is for transformed hearts and minds, when we can see a fellow human and we can indeed have love, care, compassion.

There is a way, there is a door.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. -Revelations 3:20

Anhelos 🆚 Realidad

Los primeros seis meses de 2020 han sido impredecibles. Veamos qué traerá el próximo mes y los próximos meses. Una cosa parece destacarse, nuestro país y nuestro mundo siguen divididos. Mirando hacia atrás, recuerdo haber pensado que “el año no cambia las cosas“, algunos de nosotros esperábamos un año con menos desafíos, pero aquí estamos.

• El mundo anhela la unidad

• El mundo anhela la paz

• El mundo anhela amor

Sin embargo, en el deseo de alcanzar la unidad, la paz, el amor; Nosotros, los humanos, encontramos las muchas razones para tener una guerra, ser cruel, segregar.

Los eventos recientes que enfrenta nuestro mundo nos dan la oportunidad de ver el fruto del corazón humano.

Todos tenemos opiniones

Si no estás de acuerdo con mi opinión, separémonos

Estamos segmentados (incluso cuando el rugido es para la inclusión y la diversidad); a continuación algunas de las opciones;

• Las vidas de las personas de color importan

• Las vidas de los policías importan

• Todas las vidas importan

• Las vidas de los bebés en el útero importan

• Las vidas blancas son privilegiadas

Nos olvidamos que cada individuo enfrenta diferentes desafíos.

Hay humanos ricos que están solos, deprimidos, pero debido a que son ricos, busquemos formas de derribarlos (algunos dirían).

Hay humanos pobres que no tienen comida, algunos tal vez están cerca de un desalojo; eso es parte de la vida (algunos pueden decir).

Hay jóvenes que se la pasan horas y horas conectados a los aparatos electrónicos, “conectados” pero desconectados de la realidad; dónde están sus padres (algunos dirán).

Y puedo seguir segmentando a nuestra población

• Enmascarar o no enmascarar

• Mi libertad vs tu libertad

• Deja que las estatuas sean vs. derriba las estatuas

La cultura y el mundo nos han estado diciendo que hagamos lo que nos hace felices, y hasta cierto punto seguimos haciendo lo que nos hace felices … olvidando a nuestro prójimo, centrándonos en mi yo, en mis derechos, y en mí.

Estamos, querido humano, repitiendo la historia.

Estamos, querido humano, distraídos.

El mundo nos distraerá.

…Pero, cada vez que alguien se vuelve al Señor, el velo es quitado. 2 Corintios 3:16

En nuestro poder humano con la intención de hacer el bien, continuaremos haciendo lo contrario.

Pensemos en un presidente que deja su estatus para convertirse en sirviente.

Pensemos en un rey que deja su reino para ser herido, burlado, asesinado.

Incomprensible!

Sin embargo, hay alguien que hizo eso, Cristo. O te burlas de ese hecho o te rindes a él.

Después de la rendición viene la transformación; no sucede de la noche a la mañana, aquí es donde sucede este nuevo tipo de vida.

• Muero a mi yo

• Pienso en los demás

• Comparto la verdad por amor

Amo con el tipo de amor que busca el bien de los demás.

Existe esta paz que supera toda comprensión.

Existe este tipo de amor que nos acepta como somos y que transforma.

¡Existe esta reconciliación y unidad con Dios!

Por mi cuenta, cuando pienso en la idea de usar una máscara, empiezo a sentirme enferma.

Por mi cuenta, cuando uso una máscara, creo que es innecesario

Sin embargo, si un prójimo me pide que me ponga una máscara, por su bien, me pondré la máscara (esto es más cierto cuando se trata de mi esposo y mis hijos, su actitud impacta convence).

“Cristo debe aumentar, pero yo debo disminuir”. -Juan 3:30

• Voy a morir

• Vas a morir

• Vamos a morir

La muerte es un hecho; por supuesto, debemos ser cuidadosos y responsables. Sin embargo, ninguno de nosotros sabe cuándo llegará el momento. Deseo corazones y mentes transformados. Deseo aquel momento cuando podamos ver a un ser humano com amor, cuidado y compasión.

Hay un camino, hay una puerta.

He aquí, yo estoy a la puerta y llamo; si alguno oye mi voz y abre la puerta, entraré a él, y cenaré con él y él conmigo.
