I remember hearing truth and my heart getting angry, thinking, how dare this person tells me I am not good.
I remember hearing about kindness, forgiveness, and my heart and soul will irk! Thinking how haughty so and so are, the word rejoicing didn’t come to mind.
Interesting phrase, to rejoice with the truth.
The truth may hurt at the beginning, yet in the long run it brings gladness. Lately I have being thinking about the processes of life. Learning about God and growing in love and knowledge is a process, at times a painful one.
The world is full of lies; God is full of truth.
In an environment where many will say that there is not an objective truth, how is that love rejoices with the truth?
What is truth?
Interestingly the word of God has a lot to say about truth.God is truth, His word is Truth.
Some examples:
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 8:32
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
- Truth is the opposite of false.
- There is such right and wrong, true and false.
- Truth is absolute and singular.
- Either the word of God is truth, or it is not.
- It cannot be Buddha and Christ.
- Either we are faithful, or we are faithless.
- Either we are liars, or we are truthful.
Since God is love and is truth, both are part of His character. His character is unchangeable.
I am thinking that in today’s environment people rather hear lies and affirmations to feel good about self, to not acknowledge how corrupted we humans are without the one who created us.
- If I have a piece of cilantro in my front teeth, I would like to know. Wouldn’t you?
- If someone has something against me, I rather know than go on pretending we have a good and friendly relationship.
- If I am going in the wrong direction, I would like to know, rather than spending time and energy going in the wrong direction.
At one point in my life, I was living a lie, I was pretending to be a follower of Christ while being deceitful, my priorities and the attitude of my day-to-day life said that I was an enemy of Christ.
- Truth is consistent with the mind, will, character = God
- Humans = inconsistent
- A human who surrendered to Christ, starts to transform, not fully perfect, a work in progress.
- Truth is the way things are = reality.
God is the author of His word and the Creator of nature, the universe, you, and me. Because He is the author and creator, He can dictate how things are. If you or I don’t like it, then we shall create our own universe and dictate how things go (by the way I am being sarcastic, we humans are powerless). We can pretend to create our own world with our own rules, the reality is that we can pretend all we want, yet each of us have an expiration date and we will face The Creator.
As I am going through the process of sanctification, truth still hurts from time to time, yet I can say that loves rejoice with the truth. By the way, love is not a feeling, love is a decision. Love is not just love. God is Love. God is truth.
If you are mad about this post, it may be a good thing, I will highly encourage you to ask God to reveal truth to you because you want to know truth for daily living and for evermore.
- Do you rather know the truth or prefer to follow lies?
Until next time.
At your service for God’s glory with love and truth.
M.E
